Desreta Jackson is an award-winning actress, filmmaker, author, entrepreneur, and preservationist. She rose to fame as the orginial young Celie in the Academy Award–nominated film The Color Purple and has spent over 30 years in the entertainment industry creating purpose-driven content.
She is the founder of BlackSilk Products, a wellness brand, and author of The Black Hair Conspiracy book and podcast. As a real estate developer, Desreta Jackson has once again made history with the acquisition and ongoing restoration of the Goodman–Stark House, a nationally recognized U.S. historic landmark in Louisiana, Missouri. Soon to be unveiled as The Goodman & Stark Project, this legacy-driven national museum will stand as a powerful tribute to preservation, culture, and enduring impact.
